Who We Are

The SOEs Network on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (the African SOEs Network) is a platform for government representatives, State-Owned Enterprises, related agencies and other relevant non-governmental stakeholders from African member states to facilitate policy dialogue on SOEs ownership and corporate governance practices, to share and exchange experiences, identify good practices and develop recommendations for effective reforms to improve and strengthen corporate governance of SOEs in Africa. The objective of the platform is to strengthen the capacity of SOEs and to ensure that the SOEs play a crucial role in African economies. The value of the African Network is in the peer learning and peer exchanges.

What We Do

In order to achieve its vision and mission and having regard to global practice and developments, the SOEs Network:

Promotes dialogue on codes, practices and standards of corporate governance appropriate to SOEs as well as their applicability and implementation.

Serves as an authoritative source of information and analysis on issues of good corporate governance of SOEs in Africa.

Creates a common platform for advocacy and awareness and promotes a consistent message regarding contemporary and emerging matters on corporate governance in SOEs in Africa.

Expands the Network's influence and reach by forming strategic relationships through its advocacy role, and by growing membership numbers of the Network.

Establishes working relations and represents the views of members on corporate governance matters of SOEs on the continent and participate in dialogue with national, bilateral and multilateral bodies.

Conducts or commissions research and generation of knowledge on topics related to good corporate governance of SOEs in Africa.

Assists in building the capacity of SOEs and regulatory institutions in member countries for more effective corporate governance.

Benchmarks progress in the corporate governance of SOE on the Continent.
